Tenant Insurance
Simple Guide to Home Insurance for Tenants
As part of our property management services we strongly advise our tenants to consult with an insurance agent, a skilled professional who can help identify the most suitable insurance for their specific needs.
At Granite Vista Property Management, it’s mandatory for all tenants to have Tenant’s Insurance. This insurance safeguards the tenant’s personal belongings in events like damage or disasters.
Before moving in and at each lease renewal, tenants are required to provide proof of this Required Insurance to the landlord.
Tenants have the freedom to choose their insurance provider. As long as proof of insurance is provided and maintained throughout the lease agreement, no further action is needed.
Renter’s Insurance
We encourage tenants to consider Renter’s Insurance, which can protect personal property and cover potential injuries arising from incidents such as theft, fire, water damage, or pipe leaks. It’s important to understand that the landlord’s insurance does not extend to the tenant’s personal items or belongings.
Typically, the landlord is not legally liable for any loss or damage to a resident’s personal property or possessions, nor for personal liability, and such incidents are not covered by the landlord’s insurance.
Tenants must adhere to any requirements set by the landlord’s insurance provider to prevent either an increase in insurance premiums (which the tenant would be responsible for paying) or a loss of insurance coverage.
